The last significant rain fall was in February, which resulted in a low amount of rain for the year. The un-irrigated vineyards are producing excellent harvests. Cabernet Franc was harvested at the end of August and the Merlot and the Cabernet Sauvignon in mid- September. The Enigma establishes its place in the Israeli market with wide spectrum of smells and flavors from the different varieties of its blend. From the point of many critics this year is unique.
The third book was published - "Concepts in Wine Technology" which is a practical completion to the Wine Chemistry book

For the first time we did Compost fertilization in our vineyards. Fertilizing before the rains guarantees that the Compost will be inserted it to the soil. This was a good year for our vines. The harvest ended in the course of September. The Merlot was harvest at same time as the Cabernet Sauvignon and we decided to ferment the two together and to make our first blended wine. Later in to the barrels we added some Cabernet Franc and so the Margalit Bordeaux variety – Enigma came about. The result surprised us and we continue to produce more Enigma every year.
This year we did not make any Merlot. Some went to the Enigma and the rest was sold.

The summer started harshly because of a heave dry hot winds in June. Not a good year for Israeli wine industry. There was loss of crop, damage to leaves and delay of maturation and harvest to the end of September. We had low yield and 80% decrease in bottles. As for the wine, it was a good year for us. On the spring of 2008 the Special Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was tasted by Mark Squires - Robert Parker's taster, we shall quote what was written in the "Globes" newspaper: "I tasted wines which were not sent to the Israeli tasting. After tasting this wine, I think it would have gotten the highest score".
To our best knowledge the Merlot of this year is very special as well.
